About the Event

The MHIN Asia x PMHA Webinar: Reaching the Unreached – Innovations and Community Pathways in Mental Health provided a platform for sharing innovative approaches and community-based strategies to improve mental health care accessibility, particularly among geographically isolated and underserved populations in the Philippines.

The webinar explored how preventive interventions, digital innovations, cross-sector partnerships, and grassroots initiatives can help address gaps in mental health service delivery and expand access to support beyond conventional healthcare settings.

I attended this webinar online to gain insights into emerging approaches to mental health care, particularly the role of community engagement, technological innovation, and preventive strategies in reaching vulnerable and underserved populations.

The presentations highlighted initiatives undertaken by the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA), demonstrating how community-driven programmes and collaborative approaches can strengthen mental health service delivery. Particular attention was given to the challenges faced by vulnerable groups, including young children navigating increasingly complex digital environments, and the importance of early intervention and accessible community-based support.

The webinar also emphasised the potential of scalable community-based mental health models, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-informed interventions in addressing mental health inequalities. Experiences from the Philippines provided perspectives on strengthening mental health systems and promoting more inclusive and sustainable approaches to mental health care.
