About the Event

The 2026 International Forum on Climate Change Adaptation Policies and Resilient Development brought together international experts, policymakers, and researchers to exchange knowledge and perspectives on climate change adaptation strategies, policy frameworks, and approaches to strengthening resilience and sustainable development.

Organised by the Taiwan Geographic Information Center (TGIC) under the commission of Taiwan’s National Development Council (NDC), the forum addressed growing climate-related challenges, including extreme temperatures, heavy rainfall, droughts, and rising sea levels.

I attended this forum online to gain insights into international approaches to climate change adaptation, particularly the integration of climate risk considerations into national development planning, cross-sectoral coordination, and institutional frameworks for strengthening climate resilience.

The discussions drew on international experiences from the United Kingdom and South Korea, providing perspectives on climate adaptation governance, policy implementation, and the development of effective adaptation strategies. The exchange highlighted the importance of translating scientific evidence and climate risk assessments into practical policies that support long-term resilience.

The forum also emphasised the importance of international collaboration, evidence-based decision-making, and coordinated policy responses in addressing climate-related risks and advancing sustainable development.
